Clare Rose is a Pembrokeshire based artist. Originally from Oxfordshire, she studied fine art at Aberystwyth University (MA & BA) and has lived and worked in Wales for the past forty years.
She is driven by a fascination with the interplay of light. Her practice encompasses both representational and abstract approaches, exploring the complexities of the human form and the power of visual expression. Primarily a studio painter, her source materials are derived from sketches, photographs, memory, imagination and the ‘felt’ aspect of interactions with both landscape and people.
Clare was the first female student commissioned by Aberystwyth to paint the University President. She has taught at institutions and privately across the UK , Europe and China. She is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of her practice, inviting viewers to share in her creative journey. She is thrilled to be featured on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year, 2025.
